How to watch Barcelona vs Bayern Munich?
The match of this year’s Champions League quarter-finals sees Spanish giants Barcelona play Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Barcelona have advanced to the last 8 with relative ease after topping the group stages and defeating Napoli 4-2 on aggregate in the round of 16. They remain undefeated in this season’s Champions League, and they’ll be hoping their record will still be intact after their game against Bayern. They lost out in La Liga to Real Madrid and will also be wary that the last two campaigns ended in dramatic comeback losses to Roma and Liverpool.
It has been even easier for Bayern in the Champions League as they have won all their matches in the competition and they thrashed Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate in the previous round. The Bavarians have seen a massive upturn in their fortunes since new manager Hans-Dieter Flick was hired and they ended up winning the Bundesliga with relative ease despite a difficult start to the season. However, this quarter-final against Barcelona will be the most challenging test of his reign so far. Bayern Munich are currently at 1.99 to win.
The last meeting between the pair was in 2015 when Barcelona knocked out Bayern Munich in the semi-finals. Even though quite a few players remain from that match, it won’t help much in deciding the outcome of this one. Historically, Barcelona are known for their possession-based football, but that style has slowly disappeared from their game over the past few years, which was the reason they hired Quique Setien as their manager. He was appointed in January, but his reign could well depend on the result of this game.
Bayern enter this match as favourites, but in a one-off tie, anything can happen. This match will likely depend on which player out of Bayern’s Lewandowski or Barca’s Lionel Messi can assert themselves on the game. Lewandowski is at 1.62 to score, and Lionel Messi is at 2.13 to grab a goal in this match.
