Barcelona vs Real Madrid La Liga Betting Tips

La Liga - El Clásico

Camp Nou, Barcelona, Spain.

Wednesday 18th December.

Kick-off: 20:00 (CET).

La Liga.

TV: laliga.com

This delayed El Clásico finally takes place as Barcelona entertain Real Madrid at the Camp Nou.

Plodding along

Barcelona got a hard-fought draw against Real Sociedad at the weekend, and Barca fans would like an improved performance in the first Clásico of the season. The Real Sociedad game more or less summed up their season - getting results without playing particularly well. Luis Suarez has returned to form with goals in his previous two La Liga games; he also scored a hattrick against Real Madrid last season at the Camp Nou. He is at 2.23 to score again in the Clásico.

Real’s Clásico drought

Real Madrid were also lucky to escape with a draw at the weekend. Karim Benzema scored a 95th-minute equaliser at the Mestalla against Valencia. He has also been in tremendous form recently and is the top scorer in La Liga with 12 goals. He hasn’t netted in a La Liga match against the Catalans since 2016. You can currently back him to score at any point during the game and break his Barcelona goalscoring duck at odds of 2.20.

Match preview

Real Madrid’s recent record against Barcelona is dire - with the last league win coming in 2016. The obvious standout player in this tie is Lionel Messi. He has scored more goals against Real Madrid than any other player, and he needs to be kept quiet if Real are to win. The Argentinean is at odds of 4.00 to be the first goalscorer in this game. This can also be a problem for Barcelona as they struggle quite badly unless he is at his best. Both teams are weaker now than in years gone by; with the legends of both sides either declining or leaving, so the level of play will likely be lower than when the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Cristiano Ronaldo were playing in these matches.

Injuries and suspensions

Barcelona: Arthur and Ousmane Dembélé.

Real Madrid: Marco Asensio, Lucas Vázquez, James Rodríguez, Eden Hazard and Marcelo.
