One of the highlights of this week’s Champions League matches sees the 1997 winners Dortmund play French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Dortmund scraped through their group of death with the highlight being the comeback against Inter Milan. They were 0-2 down and came back to win 3-2, and this match ended up deciding who went through to the knockout rounds.
Their Bundesliga form has been inconsistent, but they are only four points from the top. Their signing of Erling Haaland has helped them score goals, and he already has eight goals in five games for his new team. He is currently at odds of 2.18 to score against PSG.
PSG are coasting the league as usual, and they find themselves 10 points above Marseille - their closest rivals. The Parisians have yet to make the semis of a Champions League after being bought by wealthy Qatari owners in 2011. Thomas Tuchel’s job could depend on PSG making the final this year, and anything less will be a disappointment. Will this be the year that they make strides in the CL? PSG are at 8.00 to win this season’s Champions League. PSG are likely to be without their star player - Neymar. He has a rib injury, and PSG are unsure if he’ll be able to play.
PSG manager Tuchel is up against his former club, and his new team are slight favourites at odds of 2.32. This match may well produce a lot of goals as both have recently scored a lot in their respective leagues. However, PSG rarely perform to the best of their ability in the Champions League and have lost numerous times after taking a first-leg lead in recent years - something that will play on their minds during both matches. Both teams have talented players, and anything can happen during knockout games. With PSG’s Champions League problems in recent years, Dortmund will be convinced they can take advantage of PSG getting nervous if the tie is still close by the end of the second leg in Paris.
Dortmund: Thomas Delaney, Marco Reus and Julian Brandt.
PSG: Neymar, Abdou Diallo and Presnel Kimpembe.
We’re expecting a close match, and our betting tip is for Dortmund to edge out PSG by one exact goal at odds of 4.75.
