In crucial matches for the La Liga and Serie A titles; Real Madrid play Barcelona in El Clasico and Juventus host Inter Milan in the Derby d’Italia.
Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid, Spain.
Sunday 1st March.
Kick-off: 21:00 (CET).
The Clasico couldn’t have come at a worse time for Real Madrid. A midweek Champions League humbling saw them lose 1-2 to Manchester City. Last week’s loss to Levante resulted in Barcelona overtaking them at the top of La Liga. However, they have the players capable of turning their awful week around and a win on Sunday will see them become favourites for the League. Real Madrid are at 2.23 to defeat Barcelona.
Return to form?
On the other end of the spectrum; Barcelona enter this match with four La Liga wins on the bounce and a solid result against Napoli during the week - a 1-1 away draw. Are things starting to click under their new manager Quique Setien? Barcelona are the slight underdogs in this match at odds of 3.07. Barcelona have been in the headlines for other reasons recently. They controversially signed Martin Braithwaite from Leganes as an emergency signing. With striker Ousmane Dembele out for the season; La Liga gave them permission to sign Braithwaite for €18 million.
The H2H doesn’t make for good reading if you are a Real Madrid fan. They’ve not triumphed over Barcelona in almost four years, and their last league win over Barcelona at the Bernabeu was in 2014. The previous match between the two was a 0-0 draw at the Camp Nou. The winner of this match will be the favourites to take the title. The league is Real’s priority as it is a competition they’ve struggled to win during the past ten years, and the Champions League is the priority for Barcelona for the same reasons. Under their new manager; Barca will seek to keep possession, and they will take great comfort in Man City’s successful display at the Bernabeu on Wednesday as Real looked uncomfortable without the ball. Barca are also a team that struggle without the ball, and the team that have their passing boots on will win the game. Despite Real Madrid losing in midweek; Isco did score in that match; you can back him at odds of 2.88 if you think he’ll score again.
Real Madrid: Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio.
Barcelona: Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele, Sergi Roberto and Jordi Alba.
For this match; we fancy Real Madrid to finally defeat Barcelona at the Bernabeu. Our betting tip is a Real Madrid win and both teams to score at odds of 3.60.

Champions League struggles
Juventus enter this fixture after a surprising and disappointing 1-0 loss in the Champions League to Lyon. They had zero shots on target in that game and will need to up their game for this match against Inter. They’re still top of Serie A being one point ahead of Lazio and six ahead of Inter who have a game in hand. Juventus are at 1.53 to win nine Serie A titles in a row.
Last chance saloon
This is the most important match of Inter’s season so far. A win will put them right back in the thick of things in regards to the challenge for the title. A loss here and they will probably be left with too much to do to win this season’s Serie A. Inter lost to fellow Serie A challengers Lazio in their previous game, and their record against the top teams may well cost them the title. Inter are at odds of 5.50 to win Serie A. They’re comfortably through to the next round of the Europa League after defeating Ludogorets of Bulgaria in the round of 32.
Juventus won 1-2 at the San Siro earlier in the season; an even game that could have gone either way. Sunday’s game will likely follow the same pattern. Juventus will be the favourites as they’re at home and have the experience of winning titles. A win for Juventus will surely put Inter too far behind, and Juve will be in a two-horse race with Lazio - an Inter win will blow the title race wide open. Juventus have struggled recently with losses in the league to Napoli and Verona. There are suggestions that the players are finding it difficult to adapt to the playing style of their new manager Mauricio Sarri. The results have still been good, but the performances have been mediocre in comparison to their high standards. Juventus are at 2.28 to win the Derby d’Italia.
Juventus: Miralem Pjanic, Gonzalo Higuain and Douglas Costa are all doubts for this game.
Inter: Stefano Sensi.
With the potential for quite a few goals in this match; you can get odds of 3.53 for there to be a total of 4 to 6 goals.
