🏆 Champions League
After a 0-1 away win - RB Leipzig host Tottenham Hotspur in their bid to make the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history.
Leipzig are stumbling slightly in the league - their title challenge faltering due to too many draws. Are the demands of two competitions catching up with them? However, they do find themselves in a commanding position in this fixture, but their manager will make sure his players avoid any complacency as the tie is far from over. You can get odds of Leipzig to qualify at 1.55.
Tottenham have been in dreadful form recently. They haven’t won any of their previous five matches and were knocked out of the FA Cup after losing on penalties to Norwich. The Champions League is all they have left in terms of silverware, and it’s the only competition in which they’ve performed well during the past year. They can take inspiration from last year’s semi-final match against Ajax as they were in an identical position. Spurs lost the first leg at home 0-1 and ended up winning away with a dramatic last-gasp Lucas Moura goal. Spurs are at 5.30 to repeat last season’s heroics.
Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho will undoubtedly need to change either his tactics or personnel if his side are to progress. Spurs were thoroughly outplayed in the 1st leg and were lucky that the scoreline was only 0-1. He and his team have the experience and ability to turn things around, but current form suggests that it’s highly unlikely. Tottenham did have chances to score at the end and will take confidence from that - as well as the fact that this is new territory for Leipzig and if things are tight at the end then nerves are bound to creep in. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to play cautiously at the beginning or more attacking. They will have to go for it at some point if they find themselves behind in the closing moments. Leipzig will have the same worries as an attacking approach will leave them open to the counter, and their away goal effectively wiped out if they concede. You can get odds of 1.80 for both teams to score during the match.
Timo Werner: His penalty separates the sides entering this match, and he has 21 goals in the Bundesliga this season.
Lucas Moura: If selected, his speed and trickery could prove pivotal in deciding this match.
RB Leipzig: Ibrahima Konaté and Willi Orban.
Tottenham: Heung-min Son, Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko.
Based on the 1st leg and the recent form of both teams; our betting tip is a Leipzig win and both teams to score at odds of 3.01.
